O secretário de Estado Adjunto e da Saúde, António Lacerda Sales, disse hoje estar muito preocupado com a “tendência crescente” da pandemia de covid-19 em Portugal, que hoje registou mais 23 mortos e 3.786 infeções.
“Estamos, claro, muito preocupados. Estamos com 374 de índice de incidência por 100.000 habitantes a 14 dias. Estamos com um índice transmissibilidade de 1,13, portanto, ainda superior a 1. E é claro que isso nos preocupa por ter uma tendência crescente”, afirmou aos jornalistas António Lacerda Sales, em Leiria, onde hoje visitou o centro de vacinação contra a covid-19.
O governante insistiu na necessidade de acelerar a vacinação e o reforço da testagem, assim como no “controlo de fronteiras, com a obrigação do teste à chegada”.
Afirmando-se, igualmente, preocupado com os serviços de saúde, o secretário de Estado adiantou que foi pedido “a todos os hospitais e a todos os serviços de saúde planos de contingência” e que “as escalas de banco estivessem asseguradas”.
“Pontualmente, há um outro hospital que ainda precisa de poder tapar uma outra escala, mas isso é perfeitamente normal no Serviço Nacional de Saúde”, declarou, garantindo que a grande maioria dos hospitais já deu as escalas fechadas até ao final do ano.
Questionado se haverá recursos humanos suficientes nos hospitais para o Natal e Ano Novo, António Lacerda Sales observou que “os recursos humanos é algo que é sempre muito exigente”.
“Eu sou profissional de saúde e tenho um grande respeito e acredito na consciência cívica dos profissionais de saúde relativamente a esta matéria e, portanto, os profissionais de saúde nunca nos abandonam e nós nunca abandonamos os profissionais de saúde”, garantiu, acrescentando que há atualmente “mais cerca de 30 mil profissionais de saúde” do que em 2015, no que classificou de “esforço enorme” de recrutamento.
Ainda assim, reconheceu que “haverá sempre em alguns locais a falta de profissionais de saúde”.
“Nesses casos, cá estamos para contratar, para continuar a contratar, para suprir essas faltas. Temo-lo feito com tranquilidade, com serenidade. Sabemos que nalguns casos pontuais há problemas que se vão resolvendo, também. Isso é que é fazer a gestão de um Serviço Nacional de Saúde”, acrecscentou.
No centro de vacinação contra a covid-19 de Leiria, que funciona no Estádio Municipal Dr. Magalhães Pessoa, António Lacerda Sales, que foi médico no Hospital de Santo André, na cidade, e é atualmente presidente da Assembleia Municipal de Leiria, ouviu elogios à organização e agradecimentos, que retribuiu, com agradecimentos pela adesão à vacinação.
“Continuem assim, estão de parabéns”, disse uma utente a António Sales, enquanto outro aproveitou a presença do governante para se queixar dos salários baixos e, depois, para reconhecer a importância do processo de vacinação.

Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa falava no Campus de Carcavelos da Universidade Nova de Lisboa, após ter discursado no encerramento do 5.º Congresso da Sedes – Associação para o Desenvolvimento Económico e Social.
“Estou feliz por saber que hoje mesmo está prevista a vacinação de dezenas de milhares de portugueses e que a adesão é tão grande que não se coloca em Portugal a questão de ter de haver vacinação obrigatória. Os portugueses percebem que devem vacinar-se, sem necessidade de vacinação obrigatória”, declarou o chefe de Estado aos jornalistas.
Questionado se considera que a mesma adesão se verificará com a vacinação das crianças, o Presidente da República começou por responder que essa “é uma decisão que depende agora da posição última das autoridades sanitárias”.
Depois, referiu que na vacinação “dos 12 aos 18 anos, depois de haver vários pontos de vista, houve uma adesão massiva”, acrescentando: “Isso foi um bom sinal. Não vejo razão para não haver a mesma adesão da parte de pais, de avós e de outros responsáveis por crianças em idades inferiores”.
